Burning City

My latest painting.
In between a very busy semester at the university, I rarely find time to paint right now. So this took nearly two weeks to complete.

I am still impressed by the enormous wild fires all over the world, by the near daily news snippets of global warming and its effects, obviously this spilled into this painting.

Burning City, Alcoholic Inks on Yupo, 11x14 inch
Available: $250 plus shipping.

Two pictures from way before it was completed.

Girl

Sometimes I see a picture and it immediately speaks to me.

This is one example, browsing through old art magazines whether or not to keep them longer around, the face of a young woman painted by Jian Wang jumped into my head.
Sometimes that is all, but this time I challenged me to find my own lines in the painting, my shapes, my forms. So I started drawing on it, then painting on it.

It is small, just 5x5 inch.

Should anybody with legal expertise read this:
Is this legal use of someone else's artwork?
Is it modified enough to be accepted as new independent work?

Welcome to 2024 This is my first picture of the year. I am always happy to hear/read some feedback. Any idea for a title?
